As a response to cost issues, we proposed utilizing the CIBBAP principle of metal construction, according to which 40 cm wide “U” shaped sections function equally for the cladding as for the bearing structure. This principle also facilitated precise and rapid construction and a reduction in the number of interfaces. The result is a building of very homogenous appearance that, thanks to its base built set back, seems to float above the field. The only opening visible from the outside is the southern gable, which is entirely made of glass, and functions as the public entrance. To the east, on the entrance side, the main facade was lined with an entirely perforated filtering facade, thereby letting a tunnel slip into form through which, from the ramp, the personnel can exit and the public can enter. To the west, facing the field, each opening is protected by a perforated and motorized shutter, completed as part of the CIBBAP sections. These perforated elements enable the building to be secured during its closing hours. They constitute a screen of discretion from the outside, meanwhile providing protection from the sun.
