The Oregon Department Of Energy had to move from their old lease space that they have been in for almost 30 years into another building and needed the space designed to fit their needs.
Their new home is a building that was built in the 1960's and was used as a sear's department store until the early 1990's when it was renovated for the public utility commission and then the Oregon department of transportation.
The Oregon Department Of Energy would occupy the majority of the main floor and the existing floor had to be modified according to their needs which included the removal of some hard wall offices and the addition of conference rooms, open office spaces, collaboration spaces, a break room and a reception room where the public comes.
With a tight timeline, the space is transformed into a space that works for The Oregon Department Of Energy and preaches their mission REUSE and RECYCLE
In keeping with this, SOLARC found reclaimed wood siding from historic maraschino cherry vats in Salem and will use this in various aspects of the project. This product will become feature walls, built in benches and wood screens in the open office areas. Other materials that were reclaimed have been used to construct their main conference table. In addition to other Green Products that is used Sustainability have been kept a high priority in this project
