This is the oldest concrete building in Egypt dating from 1904,
during the 1992 earthquake the library had serious cracks in its bearing walls, funds have been supplied by the UNESCO to renovate this library, modernize it to Rehabilitate a Library with today's standards and adding a museum to it. The interior was rearranged using old and new materials in an elegant mix.
