1401 New York Avenue was originally built in 1983, constructed with brick and concrete. The scope of this project was to renovate the building skin, fitness center, the main lobby, and add a new penthouse to the roof. The new façade adds visual movement to the building’s design and allows users to engage with this active neighborhood. By infilling the arcade, moving the entrance, and relocating balconies, we increased usable interior space without increasing FAR.
