HAVING DONE WORK ON THIS RESIDENTIAL HIGH RISE IN THE PAST, THE CLIENT RETAINED PJA FOR A RENOVATION OF THE BUILDING’S MAIN LOBBY, AS WELL AS THE OFFICE. THE LOBBY AREA FEATURES A 20’-0” CEILING WITH TWO FULL HEIGHT WINDOW WALLS.
WE PROPOSED A FOCAL WALL ACROSS FROM THE ENTRACE WITH A 3-DIMENSIONAL GYPSUM WALL TILE THAT CREATES AN INTERESTING VISUAL DYNAMIC ON A LARGE FLAT WALL SURFACE.
THE COLUMNS ARE COVERED IN SLEEK METAL COVERS, A STRIKING VEINED MARBLE FOR THE MONLITHIC RECEPTION DESK, AND THE CEILING PLANE FEATURES ROUND LIGHTING FIXTURES OF DIFFERENT DIAMETERS HUNG AT DIFFERENT HEIGHTS. THE SAME FIXTURES ARE USED IN THE COMMUNITY ROOM, CREATING A COMMON THEME THROUGHT THE BUILDING.
FOR THE OFFICE, WE CHOSE LIGHT COLORED MATERIALS. FOR THE DESK, A DRAMATIC WAVE TEXTURED PANEL ON THE FRONT. BEHIND THE RECEPTION DESK THERE IS A FOCAL WALL- SEMI-TRANSLUCENT 3FORM RESIN PANELS WITH A SILVER INTERLAYER GIVE THE SPACE A SHIMMER AND ALSO DIVIDE THE PRIVATE OFFICES FROM THE PUBLIC SPACE.
