An infill multi-family development consisting of a single-family residence and a new 3-story duplex.  The design is rooted in principles of compact living with ample outdoor space and progressive architecture that respects the neighborhood while acting a beacon in the community.  

The duplex lifts above the sloping site to create a sense of hovering in the landscape while touching down in the site lightly.  The idea of thresholds is explored through a terraced level that at once invites the users down and into the space while acting as the informal barrier between public and private.  The double height volume created by the decks has a stair that becomes a distinct object in the space.  The stair angles out to address the entry deck as well as create a private space beyond for the lower unit.  

This project is the first self-initiated development for our firm as Architect/Developer/Builder.
