Nexus celebrates the intersection of Seattle’s fundamental tenets of nature and high technology. Starting from this high rise condominium tower’s architecture – a podium with four boxes above that shift, back and forth by eight degrees as they rise – the interior design softens the angular structure with fluid, soothing palettes and natural materials while also incorporating the latest in integrated, high tech systems. The result is a welcoming urban oasis that gives home owners easier control over their environment with the touch of a button.
The Nexus lobby creates a grand arrival, on par with Seattle’s finest hotels. A bold, original art sculpture and a glass wall that showcases the lobby marks the building’s entrance. Within, an austere reception desk, back dropped with dramatic digital art, creates a clear identifier for visitors, while a carved out space, with a frame of light, creates a sumptuous sitting area for visitors to wait with grace.
Amenities throughout the building are ample and generous. What ties them all together is the level of modern, elegant comfort the design creates for the users. These are amenities more often seen in luxury hotels, with dramatic accent colors, luscious fabrics and high quality stone, wood and metal materials that create enticing spaces. The signature 41st Floor Sky Lounge is designed for owners to revel in luxury or relax with friends. A dark, dramatic palette centers around a 360 degree open fireplace and ample spaces for showcase entertaining include a generous roof top deck that wraps the southwest side of the top floor.
Individual units are characterized by light and space. Floor plans were designed for efficiency and to showcase the views. A judicious use of pocket doors and barn doors reduce the amount of hallways translating that space into more generous living areas. Barn doors connecting the bedroom to the living room at the exterior windows create expansive views of downtown Seattle, Lake Union and Capitol Hill. Structural columns, often a necessary intrusion in high rise units, are hugged by demising walls whenever possible or create a backdrop for headboards, niches for art or personalized by the home owner.
