Kiara is a mixed-use project that juxtaposes a modern, sleek and sculpted 440’ tall tower with a crisp podium structure that is carefully proportioned to blend with nearby industrial age warehouse structures.
Located at the southernmost edge of South Lake Union and the northernmost edge of Denny Triangle, the building is positioned to enhance the walkability and transit orientation of Seattle’s downtown. Substantial retail in the base of the structure at the corner of Denny and Terry will activate this former ‘dead zone’ into a vibrant gateway into these two districts. Large, airy and transparent retail spaces spill onto the sidewalk with large glass garage-style doors that will create an indoor/outdoor connection.
The tower is positioned mid-block, allowing for a lushly landscaped outdoor terrace on top of the podium. This sky garden is crowned with a pavilion that will be enclosed in operable glass on three sides. Residents will enjoy the intimate seating areas, dining spaces, BBQs and sunbathing corners of this veritable urban roof-top park; those who live on the towers south side will also enjoy the view of this “fifth elevation”.
The tower is composed of two major, contrasting vertical elements that help to slenderize and break down the mass into an elegant, layered composition of alternating glass colors. The top of the tower is terraced and sculpted, and the roof top itself provides an additional roof top garden and owner’s lounge where spectacular views of Lake Union, The Space Needle, Elliot Bay can be enjoyed by residents.
