The bowtie parcel in Atwater village is a public park, adjoining the Los Angeles River, with minimal use. California state parks and the organization Clockshop commissioned the design build studio to create follies that enhance the features of the site and create an aura about the site.
The view folly was designed as an instrument to emphasize the views that the site has to offer and create a sense of place for the users. The project is strategically placed along the North West, allowing the users to get a prime view of not only the luscious river, but also the Griffith Observatory. The project is designed to use mostly reclaimed steel from the site, embracing the natural characteristics of the metal to create windows.
