UIC completed a 3000 sf home on three abandoned city lots in the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood of St. Louis. Working with the client’s ambitions to create a contemporary design that fits within its historic neighbors, UIC developed a design that places the primary living space on the ground floor, focused on a courtyard with a lap pool its center, creating an urban oasis in this busy city neighborhood. Guest bedrooms and a studio apartment have been placed on the street elevation, giving the home a 2 -story height with floors aligned to adjacent structure. The building is clad in a combination of steel and cement fiber panels in colors to match the adjacent brick, while maintaining a unique presence.
