An independent filmmaker who works from home, the owner wanted to explore the idea of adding a conservatory-style office onto the garden-side of her historic Main Line Philadelphia carriage house. Additionally, she wished to renovate her kitchen as the first step of the overall project. We prepared several studies exploring ways to join an addition to the main structure by linking it to the renovated kitchen and existing dining room.
An avid cook, the owner's desire for a highly functional yet inviting, light and airy kitchen led us to work with custom painted wood cabinetry, accent lighting, natural wood, and white appliances. In addition to reworking the flow of the kitchen, we used these features to add depth and draw light into a compact yet efficient space.
