Poche, French for pocket, architecturally refers to the intricately carved spaces in the thick stone walls of old medieval buildings.  This project speculates on occurring spatial changes when this pocket space is “injected” into set programs and the new relationships that form between user to user.  Through an adaptive-reuse project of a neglected 19th Century German theatre, ideas of spectatorship (where the eyes of an audience and the bodies of actors converse), are brought back into the new structure that reference our ever-changing environment.  Art media and digital technology have both amplified this spectator experience given the ability to project ourselves through the virtual environment.  We become more self-aware when placed in a hyper-public domain such as the virtual world.  Inside, the project presents a microcosm of this present-day phenomenon.
