The study was aimed at understanding the evolution and change in configuration of housing typologies in Mumbai. The various international and national case studies of mass group housing revealed the various possibilities of liveable spaces under their own unique context. The design for a mixed density housing catering to the working class population was proposed based on the inferences of these analytical case studies and study of living and site conditions of people residing in Mumbai. The proposal intended to create a comfortable living module of public housing through the collection of people’s aspirations and the understanding of evolution of housing in the city.
