The Phoenix non-profit 'New Pathways for Youth' serves the neighborhood with mentorship programs for troubled youth to open up opportunities for personal and academic growth.  The program called for a human scale street presence due to its site of the historic Garfield neighborhood, as well an aspect of 'university style' architecture to reflect the path to higher education to the youth it serves.
