Canyon State Learning Center

The Canyon State Learning Center Is A Communal Youth Development And Recreation Center Located At Dobson Ranch Park In Mesa Arizona. Aesthetically Speaking The Projects Form Is Inspired By The Geology Of Arizona; Most Notably Violently Colliding Schist Rocks Rising Out Of The Earth With Extreme Force Against One Another. The Center Aims To Create An Environment Which Facilitates Indoor/Outdoor Kinesthetic Learning Amongst Youths From The Local Community. The Space Also Facilitates Activities For Elderly Members Of The Local Community As Well As Outdoor Recreational Activities. The Project Incorporates Sustainable Building Techniques That Include Solar Energy Production, Passive Shading, Strategic Daylighting Via Light Wells, Hollow Core Insulated Walls And Geothermal Heating And Cooling.
