RIGHT NOW is a 2-day symposium hosted by SCI-Arc on September 25-26, 2015 on the school's campus in downtown Los Angeles. The event will take stock of some of the most promising directions in contemporary architecture, using the conversation as its primary catalyst. www.sciarc.edu
The Solar Decathlon Competition is a biennial competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Solar Energy where 20 schools from around the world compete in designing and building a net zero prototype home. The SCI-Arc/Caltech team proposes D.A.L.E. (Dynamic Augmented Living Environment), a 600sf micro-home that literally moves on rails, expanding to create a mid-yard and multiplying the inhabitable space.
