Prince Charles Quay

The development of a new public quay adjacent to Cardigan’s historic bridge and castle. The quay acts as a new landing stage for craft using the river Teifi, provides a meeting point along the coastal path and also acts as a town square hosting events for locals and tourists alike. The design references the maritime heritage, using visual motifs and text in hard landscaping and sculpture. Historically this was the point of departure and return; a welcome or reluctant but necessary escape; and for some the welcome home, the hiraeth. Frank Lloyd Wright’s grand parents emigrated from this place.
