After a site reconfiguration eliminated natural daylight on the concourse level of the primary building on a commercial campus, management turned to Architecture, Inc. for a creative solution to utilize the unoccupied space. The area that was formerly an office suite was transformed into a building-wide amenity through the creation of conference center and tenant lounge. Upon entering the 4,320 sf ALT-SPACE suite, a sculptural felt acoustical ceiling carries through to the main space, past a reconfigurable set of conference rooms. A retractable room divider can separate the large space into two conference rooms, each with dedicated state-of-the-art technology and flexible furnishings.
The remaining lounge is a single large space with multiple uses. Floor and ceiling treatments help to define areas while not creating a physical barrier, visually expanding the space. The centerpiece is a wood-slatted ceiling installation with integrated lighting that centers on a large pantry and counter seating area opposite a large flat screen television. Metal screens help to further define an area dedicated to games and group activities. A variety of seating options allow for group meetings, conversation, or individual work. The neutral palette of contemporary finishes helps to further define areas with color and texture.
