The Circle is a proposal for Buildner's Museum of Emotions (Edition 1) architecture competition and was awarded the 3rd prize.
Upon entering the museum, the visitor is
greeted by a vast and open space where only a circular path and an opening in
the ceiling that follows the path are emphasized. This main area is a part of
the exhibition as it evokes a feeling of curiosity and invites the visitor to
explore further. The path
fluctuates in height as it guides visitors from reality to different dreamlike
scenography that evokes negative or positive emotions. These scenes vary from a
chilling scene in black and white which appears to magnify figures on the
opposite side of a translucent wall and a pitch dark space with an unsettling
and ominous video projection. On the positive side a high and open, gentle
blueish room that resembles a glacier cave and following after is a more joyful
space filled with light purple spheres and smooth, lava-like orbs.
Evoking emotions, positive or negative, works differently with each and every human. Some may interpret a dark room as pure fear while others may be intrigued and curious about what happens in the depths of that darkness. Instigating and observing the reaction from every visitor is an interesting experiment into the human psyche.
