The inspiration for the POP Hotel comes from the black and white photography of 1960s mod fashion. Bold stripes and polka dots dominated the images seen in the most fashionable magazines. I chose to design this boutique hotel primarily in black and white to evoke the photography of the era, but added pops of color in pink, lime and orange to reflect the colors of the Pop Art movement. The rounded shapes seen throughout the hotel are taken from the design of the various pod-style chairs of that time.
