The North Carolina Division of Archives and HIstory gave several grants and gave input into the overall restoration process, working with the architects of record, Edwards, Dove, and Knight. I was called on the carry out research and come up with the design for the missing original windows, doors, and paneling missing from the first floor of the interior. The paneling design was based on existing original paneling remaining on the second floor. The window design was based on fragments of glass discovered during archaeology, and by close investigation of the original window frames, which remained. The doors were based on other historic structures of the period, since no evidence of their design could be found.
