What was most drawing of the original space was that it seemed to be distinct from the surrounding area. It’s engineered design made it stick out from the surrounding landscape. Inside, the roof and floor framed the surrounding view. I took this idea into the design of a living space. Two large pieces protrude above the flat approach. The top of the building in the center is level with the approaching landscape and is flanked on both sides be the larger pieces. This effectively frames the view as you approach. The remnants of the ramp are replaced with glass, becoming the main source of light to the space. All view inside is facing forward to the west down the slope. The building is large and precariously placed on the slope. This makes it stand out from the surrounding landscape.
