The Vosges Haut-Chocolat Factory sits on a distinctive linear site along the Chicago River, located near a new focal point for commercial/industrial projects. The building’s facade has a unique rippled shape that pays tribute to the nature of melted chocolate and the nearby water. Moreover, its layout revolves around the two major programming realms of retail and manufacturing. The retail space is designed in a radial fashion while the manufacturing program is organized with a linear approach, including a structured core for shared spaces. This allows factory visitors to visualize the process from beginning to end. The concrete building holds an extensive green roof, which serves for factory use.
