The Meadow Studio is a design/ build project that began with the documentation of a condemned
historic studio. This preservation was conducted according to HABS guidelines prior to the building’s
dismantling. A thorough analysis was conducted to create a new structure, sharing the same footprint as the historic studio. The studio is a versatile workspace designed to accommodate multiple artists. The angled roof and interior spaces open up towards the meadow, providing
a beautiful landscape backdrop and indirect north light. The studio features an enclosed porch, an
ADA accessible bathroom, counter, sink, and an expansive wall for hanging artwork. The building was constructed as a partial prefab with all major components completed on-site. The double facade and
radiant heat were utilized to help reduce long-term energy costs.
