This architectural design project located in Istanbul was a unique opportunity to approach a design solution in a more conceptual manner.  The ideas and concepts interwined through the building are multi-fold.  Many of the concepts developed out of the history, atmosphere, and personal experience of the city. 

One of the largest concepts is the connection to the water because of Istanbul’s dominant presense on the water. The is also a strong connection between sky and land,  This is a representation of the two sides of Istanbul; the “groundedness” of city with its intellectual and thought provoking side.  The upper level of the building attempts to make a connection to the courtyard spaces of the historic mosques around the city.
