This residential "campus" is nestled into a 40+ acre farmland parcel on the Brandywine Conservancy in pastoral Amish country. The design is intentionally understated and rustic with unfinished wood and stone exteriors and interiors of local materials. The 8,000sf project consists of a main house, a guest house, a pool house with heated outdoor pool, and a workshop. Careful siting, scaling and material selection allows what could be considered a mansion, to blend into the vernacular of farm compounds. We also focused on sustainability concerns by including cutting edge technologies like geothermal heating and cooling, as well as working with regional mills and suppliers to incorporate traditional materials and components such as true weight and chain windows.
