Problem:
The purpose was to take an ill used park on the banks of the East River in New York City and  to develop it into a summer concert venue.
Solution:
The concerts are hugely popular during the summer but there are only eight concerts a year. By designing the stage as a barge, it allows the park to be featured  for the other 357 days. The marketplace and a venue for outdoor recreation were also featured in the design.
