Keelung Port Terminal

Borrowing as much from fluid, knot-like, connective design as well as from clear, bay or wing-based space organization, MSA’s design for the New Keelung Harbor and Service Building proposes a three-part based typology that subtly contorts its mass in order to link to neighboring spaces and activities, achieving overt continuity between service, travelling, leisure and commerce, while at the same time maintaining differentiation among the many functions. Through this state of the art transportation interchange, the project articulates a Ferry and Cargo Terminal, an elevated Public Promenade in the sea side of the site, and the Harbor and Service Building and Commercial spaces to the Northeast. Through a dynamic interplay between formal articulation, fenestration, and coloring, MSA’s proposal provides a new type of atmosphere to the spatial sequence that brings travelers, shoppers and city dwellers closer together.
