Gioiosa Marea, Sicily is a small village on the mountainous north shore of the island, located halfway between Palermo and Messina. This beach village is home to 5,000 Sicilians and has a summer tourist season.
During a ten day intensive workshop in Gioiosa Marea, Zeke participated in a design charrette based on the ideas and study of Information Technology (IT). Zeke, along with fellow students, developed a parti to use in the design of IT installations around the village. The group looked at the city as a river where data was collected in the mountains and trickled down into the city and distributed along nodes the way silt is distributed along the banks of a river.
The group deisgned several installations that included light, video, and sound as mediums for which the data was expressed as information.
