COMPETITION. FIRST PRIZE
The project is located in Changchun Auto Economic and Technological Development Zone, at the intersection of Dongfeng Avenue, Xihu Road and Bingshiyi street, the site occupies a total area of 29.807 sqm. The plot is close to Changchun International Auto-Park, the biggest auto-theme park in China, with an area of 1.050.000 sqm, it is also close to a large scale commercial complez, Wanda Plaza.
Following a closed competition, Rhinescheme was selected to design this project. The requirements of the competition suggest make a maximum office area, due to the lack pf office buildings here, make a reasonable design of the commercial area and avoid use the basement for parking.
The project covers a total GFA of 144.500 sqm, that includes commercial (18.280 sqm), office (100.980 sqm) and a parking building (25.240 sqm). The construction will be develop in two stage.
The shape of the plot, long (480 m) and narrow (65 m), and its relationship with Dongfend Avenue, with high value commercial, defines the strategic to develop the project. The position of the buildings create different courtyards open to this avenue, designed and selected with care the courtyards achieve a comfortable atmosphere to visit and stay in this area of the city, creating a place full of vibrancy and life to maximize the commercial value.
The design resolves the program into 7 buildings linked to a linear block that houses the parking. So, the parking building has a direct connection with the towers.
The design is based on proportion, serenity and mastery. Clean geometry and decreased material selection are the strategies and methods for design this project. The material used likewise bespeak a desire to address the city with the dignity required of the place. Granite, steel and glass are the main ingreduents of this project, in the hope that the years may go by without any loss of beauty, giving the tribute of permanence that architecture require.
