Sports Complex for Indoor Sand Volleyball - Conceptual

This is a conceptual project born out of my love for volleyball, both sand and hard court.

The idea was simple, create a structure to accommodate sand volleyball all year round.

The primary driving concern was openness in the summer time and plenty of natural daylight for the winter time.

A few key features include:

Hangar doors at each end

Operable skylights

Large openings along the North and South Elevation

A balcony for observation or to serve as a running track

A few vaulted brick ceilings for nuance

The program was developed with adult recreational leagues in mind but in reality, the cost of the facility can not be justified against the low revenue. The program consists of: (4) sand volleyball courts, (3) concession stands, (2) locker rooms (men & women), and (1) sports bar with indoor and outdoor dining plus some administrative offices.
