Collaboration of 5 EmTech Students

The design of this pavilion was developed from a helicoidal arch, made through the digital fabrication of spacers between plywood fins. Each fin in independently tensioned to the fin preceding it using the tension cable to create compression within the arch. This segmented tensioning optimises the forces acting on the tension elements of the arch by creating straight lines of tension to create the curve.
