The initial concept for this design stemmed from the combination of two subjects; one being a natural phenomenon centered around growth and the technical study of how fabrics are made. The setting for this project because a site in downtown Los Angeles' fashion district. From this concept came the creation of a program that accomidated two separate building types. In this exaple the conepts came from the natraul process of weaver bird nesting and the technical precision of crocheting. The two building types chosen to create the program are affordable living appartments paired with fashion studios/retail space.
