Library San Martin de la Vega

It's a building immerse in the environment but with the intention to be a feature.  A container that can be completely reconfigured with minimal interventions. A unique space with the capacity to absorb changes. A powerful volume, a clear structure and a simple way of building.
The plot is between a residential cluster and a big park in the outskirts of the city. In the South side, where the building opens onto the Park, we propose a linear courtyard that works as a camera isolating from the heat on summer and heated on winter.
On the North facade, the ramp links the two floors. It is a reflection of the movement on the streets outside and creates a fence for the rest of the space.
The structural system functions as a perch from which hangs the enclosure. With this system we released the interior space of structural elements. The second floor is supported by a secondary system. It could be un-built anytime.
The skylights bring light to the first floor and shape areas of special functional treatment.
The interior layout is developed according to a diagram that works with knobs form silence areas to much noisy ones. Also, this is based on a set of well established functional relationships diagram. Both have to be conciliated.
