Harvard Laboratory spring 2010

The Harvard laboratory design is a project that took a concept and turned it into a fully designed building up to and including construction drawings. The project is located on the Harvard campus bordering the neighboring residential community. To fit in with its surrounding context within the campus, there is a play on the architecture. Every brick building within the area uses a beige stone band to define each floor. The Harvard laboratory mirrors this by using oxidized steel plates to define each floor. The premise of the design is to lead people through the building using a series of wide and small spaces. The theory is people prefer larger spaces with activity than tight spaces with no activity.
