McArthur Village Metro Station

The McArthur Village Metro Station sits along Los Angeles’ Metro Red Line, a connection from Hollywood to Downtown. The program has ve key elements: a station plaza, retail, Los Angeles City College, housing (both aordable and market rate), and parking.

Even though the McArthur Village Metro Station, would be a transit-oriented development, parking is still a major issue since it is situated within Los Angeles. The project spurred from this ironic idea, instead of hiding the parking it is used as an symbolic image for the site.

Additionally, since the site sits across the street from McArthur Park a frame was created to emphasize the view of the park. Instead of creating one large metro plaza, two smaller plazas were created-one for the metro stop and another for the university.

The goal was to create a community feel, by fostering interaction between the users. Therefore, the internal streets were narrowed to create that intimate feel.
