A project which included the extensive mapping of the Tansa River Basin region in northern Mumbai helped to outline a number of problems in the area :
* Lack of infrastructure to cope with the tourist influx and environmental degradation
* Unplanned development and encroachment on the river edges
* Tourism economy controlled mainly by outsiders, minimal local participation
* Threat of privatization of common environmental
resources, such as the thermal springs and river edges
Through a series of meetings at the local and state government level we proposed design interventions to help allevaite degrading conditions on the ecology and livelihood of the villages of Akloli, Ganeshpuri, and Vajreshwari.
