RE-LIGARE Institute is a place of reconnection. Located in the south loop block of Chicago, where the
public transit (CTA train) cuts the site in half, the reconnection happens through three different phases. By dividing the site and programs into three way of reconnection (with others, with nature, and with oneself), one can utilize the facilities associated with one’s needs. The most sacred area is the area where one reconnects with oneself in a sky lit double story cave. These boxes jut out of the building therefore detaching oneself literally, spiritually, and socially. There is emphasis on the importance of spiritual reconnection with oneself and therefore, the key element takes place in the sacred moment when one steps into the protruding space.
