Athletic Landscape

The landscape project is based on an understanding of shifting elements responding to both program and the substrate below.  Two basic elements make up the entire project. One the reaches down to the ground, and one that spans.  The combination of these creates a surface that is a mountain biking training course.  Depending on the path taken, the difficulty, steepness, and intensity change.  The supporting programs happen in the lower levels of the structure.  This includes other basic training techniques and spectator areas.

Each surface was lined with a variation of a similar piece.  For example, the actual riding surface is a flat member alternating member, while the climbing members are perpendicular to the surface to provide for hand-holds.
