The new YWCA center is dedicated to the women of the 21st century. This project presents a new model for the YWCA, rebranding a venerable organization into a relevant institution for today’s women.
The curvilinear ribbon that waves through the building is a counterpoint of the existing structure. It runs from basement to roof and connects, endorses, and divides visually and formally the various parts of the project.
It is made out of Corian with a lace- like pattern alluding to both feminity and strength.
Public spaces are separated from support spaces on every floor by a bar made of concrete that runs through all the project.
