The compex consists of two dtstinct, perpendicular stations, formerly known as Jay Street-Borough Hall and Lawrence Street-MetroTech. Despite being nearly adjacent to each other, the stations remained separate for 77 years before WNB+A designed and constructed a transfer passageway as part of MTA 2005–2009 Capital Program. The work also brought the stations into compliance with the with ADA and cosmetically improved the upper mezzanine.
