The competition was to create a new lifeguard head quarters located at Silver Strand State Beach. The project breaks down into three sections a lifeguard tower, a medical center and a tourism information center. Primary design goals for the project were to strive for a carbon neutral facility, remembrance of the past and educating the public. The final design had an array of sustainable features from tidal turbines to recycling 90% of the existing structures on the site.
