The former Downtown Athletic Club (DAC) of New York City centered on the male fi gure and its physical perfection. The New DAC seeks to redefine the concept of the athletic club as a cleansing, relaxing, and health-focused practice rather than a place to defi ne the body image for flaunting it in the city. Composed of seven main interconnected levels, the new DAC centers around water and the process of cleansing. It takes visitors into a series of rooms on a journey through
the building.
