This project looks at how High Speed Rail Station Nodes can be leveraged to address houisng needs in Central Valley specifically Merced.

California’s central valley is experiencing a population increase due to an influx of people in search for cheap, affordable housing. The population increase has widened the gap between the supply and demand for affordable housing since 2019 leading to an exponential growth in housing deficits. Currently there is a need for over 100,000 affordable housing throughout the Central Valley. One of the things we have looked at as you take the central valley is to build a high speed rail and connect various populated cities ranging from 50,000 to 500,000. One of the most lucrative programs that cities compete for now is Professional Sports Franchises. The scale and the magnitude of sports we see is one of the few possible revenue generators that can match the investment required for housing.
