The Parasol Agricultural Center has been honored with the prestigious Architecture at Zero Competition award for 2023. This recognition celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of this project in the realms of design, equity, sustainability, and energy efficiency, establishing it as a remarkable net-zero project.
Situated in Allensworth, CA, this project has breathed new life into a community that had gradually faded away, restoring its identity and spirit. The project combines the two programs of teaching and innovation farm lab with guest housing, seamlessly integrated into a single structure as a focal point within the central hub.
Simultaneously, the Center stands as a beacon of equitable growth and resilience within the community. It represents a paradigm that interweaves social justice with environmental sustainability. The Center is not just an environmentally responsible project but a significant economic catalyst, creating job opportunities and fostering a self-sustaining economy.
As the project lead, I'm immensely proud of this contribution, which played a significant role in the positive transformation of the Allensworth community.
