The Cocoon Multicultural Center is a refugee community center. As the
client of this project, the Portland shelter's purpose is to provide newcomers
with a neighborhood and short-term housing while they find their path.
Additionally, the shelter will facilitate a healthy environment to nourish the
refugees. The project goal is to provide an energetic, positive, and playful
environment that gradually engages the rest of the surrounding neighborhood and the community. Creating indoor planters supports an energetic, positive, and playful space to engage new refugees in space and to act as sound absorption.
