The project aims to address the vulnerability of Red Hook to flooding by providing a unique solution. Rather than simply striving for resilience against flooding, the design integrates a park on the ground floor that can serve as a water storage facility during floods. The building's shape is informed by the circulation patterns of its users, much like how "water shapes rocks" in nature. Public spaces and amenities are thoughtfully located on the first floor to encourage socialization among residents. By prioritizing shared spaces and community interaction, the design creates a welcoming environment that fosters connection and resilience in the face of environmental challenges.
