Located in Downtown Aspen, Colorado, the boxy 33,000-square-foot structure boasts three levels of exhibition space beneath a rooftop sculpture garden that offers mountain views. The rooftop garden functions as entrance hall, public gathering area, and outdoor projection space. It is currently the only public rooftop in Aspen.
Panda Windows & Doors is proud to have contributed to the contemporary flair of this project and the architect’s commitments to the environment. Installed at the third level, Panda’s monumental sliding system spans a massive 90 degree zero post opening of approximately 82 feet making it an important design element in the rooftop’s configuration.
Panda’s TS.87 Thermally Broken Slim Profile Lift & Slide glass wall system functions as a gateway to the museum. When the weather is nice the glass wall system disappears removing any obstruction to the outdoor area and embracing the magnificent views of the Rocky Mountains. It opens up the interior space to allow for more fresh breeze circulation and access to natural daylight.
When the weather is extreme, the 6’ wide by 8’ tall 14-panel glass wall system closes up providing maximum insulation and shelter against the elements. The glass to frame ratio accompanied by narrow stiles, ensure the system provides maximum views of the beautiful mountain scenery even when the system is closed.
