Stroll this way, offers a high density building into Uptown Charlotte promoting the cities density growth north along Tryon street between 6th and 7th street.  The existing program was made up of the cities main library and multiple art studios, along with two music venues.  All of these programs were retained along with the addition of condos, student apartments and a restaurant. 
   

The urban environment focused on a trio of churches on and around the site.  Two of the churches are off of 7th with clear views across a street to our site.  The third has taken on the life of  McGlohon theater on site.  The design focuses on these three churches and the development of a triangle they make to be carried on through our site visually.  The building is pulled away from 7th street to enhance the urban room of entry into the library.  Also further down 7th is a major investment to be developed in the city, 1st ward park.  Our site becomes the gateway to this park off of 7th, a responsibility we embraced through a green connection.
