16 Julia Street

Buckeye Lake is a quiet neighborhood thirty minutes east of Columbus, Ohio. This neighborhood ranges from new multimillion dollar housing to simple dwellings with no running water and dirt floors, separated only by the body of water.

The conservative neighborhood influenced the conservative material choice and plan, requiring for the building to be razed.  On the original foundation, the new structure was built.  Since we did not touch the existing slab I was responsible for all construction documents and participated on the framing crew.

To add a touch of modern to the conservative façade the building relates on a 15 degree angle. All internal walls are turned fifteen degrees to open up the very small plan.  Even down to the tile, the fifteen degree move is enhanced.  All doors except for the front are sliding pocket doors to not waste space for door swinging.  Nothing except the grand bookcase rises above waist level to not to obstruct the view out.  Custom made bookcase and dressers are being manufactured to original ideas with the continued theme of fifteen degrees and below waist level.  Suspended track lighting is used to pull perpendiculars from the walls and break up the main room into small zones.
